My Roku remote decided to stop working last night. It was forever stuck on CBSN Chicago news. So at first, I changed the batteries, but that didn’t work. So then I googled troubleshooting.
Unplug power to Roku stick. Check. Wait 30 seconds. Check. Plug back in. Check. Take batteries out of remote. Check. Put batteries pack in and push pairing button until light on remote comes back on…..push button until light comes back on……push it again….and again….
So then I hit the reset button on my Roku stick. Nothing. Then I downloaded the Roku Remote App so I could use my phone as a remote but it wouldn’t locate my television. Then I manually tried to connect it, it didn’t work. So I finally messaged tech report. It went something like this:
SHANNU: Thank you for contacting tech support. I understand you are unable to pair your remote and unable to use mobile app.
ME: Correct.
SHANNU: May I know if you tried to troubleshoot?
ME: I’ve tried everything (I tell him my long story).
**SHANNU WAS DISCONNECTED AND LEFT THE CHAT**
You know it’s bad when even tech support can’t help you. I was feeling rather discouraged, but then “John” came on and it was like:
JOHN: Thank you for contacting tech support. Have you tried this and that?
ME: Yes, but I’ll try it again— WAIT IT’S WORKING NOW!!
**THERESA HAS LEFT THE CHAT**
Why does this happen with certain IT people? It’s like their mere presence fixes everything. They don’t even have to do anything but just be there.
Well, I guess that was the highlight of my day. In between walks, I went into the office, then after dinner I was determined to fix my Roku. And tomorrow….
I’ll do my taxes. Oh boy do I lead an exciting pandemic life.
