This morning it was raining so I had to cut my walk short. I sprinted down the hill with umbrella in hand, to Starbucks, picked up my iced coffee and then headed straight back to my apartment, disappointed. No strolling through the dog park, no tracking my steps on a new app that I downloaded called “Strava”, and no home-made squirrel videos. Pandemic times are tough, so one has to get their entertainment + mental health break in somehow.
As I turned the corner of my block, I was almost home, when a cute little fella got my attention:

This squirrel was wet as could be, but didn’t seem to mind the rain as he found himself a snack in someone’s potted plants. I turned on my video camera just in time to catch him taking a shower with the rain water. It was adorable. I can’t post videos here, but follow me on Instagram for my mostly sunset photos, but occasionally squirrel videos: https://www.instagram.com/tbabe29/
Anyway, I rarely see squirrels on my street, let alone, my block, so I saw it as God’s way of trying to cheer me up. I know that seems silly to some, but I totally believe in that sort of thing.
Then I got to work on a script I hadn’t touched in a few days. Today was all about rewriting. Rewriting feels arduous to me, but it needed to be done. Then I sent the latest draft off to my friend/script doctor for feedback.
After finishing my rewrites, the clouds begin to part, so I got in my car to run errands and then came back for my evening walk. I had to make up for lost time and walked four miles, finishing up just in time to catch an early sunset. Then I zoomed with friends to round out the evening.
