As I type this, I am sweating inside my apartment as it’s our annual one week of SF Bay Area Heatwave Hell. October and 90 degrees.
This heat kept me from being productive today. I don’t have a/c, so I had to get outta dodge instead of boiling inside the sauna that is my second story apartment. Now normally I would flee to the coast, this usually solves the problem, but this is that unusual time of year when our microclimates are broken, and we get to experience what life is like for the rest of the country. There was no natural relief in sight, so what do I do? I head east, through the Caldecott Tunnel and to the la la land of air conditioning.
Well, this plan worked for me yesterday as I sat inside a Starbucks all afternoon in Moraga, with my laptop and iced coffee. The air was on full blast and I was a happy camper. I thought I would try it again today, but I made the mistake of picking a different coffee shop with crappy a/c, and I might as well have been inside my stuffy apartment. So, I ditched coffee and sought refuge inside a nearby movie theater. There were only like three of us watching the movie “Dumb Money” inside this old beautiful theater in Orinda. Very entertaining flick, highly recommend.
So I wasn’t very productive today, besides doing a load of laundry and then posting more promo pics of my upcoming one-woman show at the Marsh Theatre in Berkeley – November 7th.
The many faces of solo performance.

My parents had quite the day as well. They took a trip to SF for Fleet Week!
There was so much traffic, it took them four hours to get home! (45 minutes with no traffic). What happened to the supposed “mass exodus” of people leaving the Bay Area after Covid? I wish!
As I type this, a cool breeze has just entered my window. Yes! The fever has finally broken!
