With Long Life

It was still raining cats and dogs today, and when that happens for too many days in a row, I get antsy. So, I walked to the grocery store this morning in the rain, umbrella in hand. But that short 30-minute trek was not enough fresh air for me, so when it looked like there was a possible break in the clouds around 4pm, I got in my car and headed for the hills to look for a geocache on a walking trail.

Of course by the time I drove up there it had started raining again. Lucky for me, the cache I was searching for wasn’t too far from the parking lot.

I felt unstoppable, trudging enthusiastically through the mud, passing others on the trail. I wasn’t the only one taking a walk in the rain.

I found the geocache, signed the activity log, and made my way back to the parking lot, mission accomplished. I refuse to let this weather get me down.

Meanwhile, on the genealogy home front, Ancestry.com reminded me that tomorrow would have been my Grandma Gerry’s 110th birthday.

If one has relatively good health, I think it would be pretty cool to live a really long life, like in biblical times. Adam (of Adam and Eve) supposedly lived 930 years. I don’t know if that is literally true, but I want it to be. I would love to live that long and see history change. I had to look up the “longest living person ever” for non-biblical times:

Jeanne Calment lived to be 122 years old!

I like this bible verse:

I’ll give you a long life,
give you a long drink of salvation!”
– Psalm 91:16 (The Message Translation)
